Lenders give SpaceX $40B for GPUs and tell the neoclouds to get a rocket

Today: Anthropic could make its IPO filing public, per The Information.

Big thing

SpaceX closes $40B of debt for GPUs, and Musk says lenders have shut out the neoclouds

A day after his warning about stranded compute, Musk answered @chamath (2.1M), who expects "a lot of partially stranded compute" in 2027: "Pretty much." In the past few weeks, he says, debt markets have "almost entirely shut off" for any company without real revenue outside AI data centers. SpaceX got its $40B because it is investment grade and has Starlink and launch revenue, so most of the 200+ neoclouds face "guppy-level death and consolidation". The debt is mostly callable, for GPUs arriving in Q1 and Q2 (@elonmusk), and "SpaceX is not buying any neoclouds" (@elonmusk). In overnight trading, Nebius and CoreWeave fell 4%, IREN and Cipher 3% (@StockSavvyShay).

Split between a coming shakeout and a CEO talking his book. "debt markets have only shut off for unsecured GPUs... This is aggressive book talking by omitting full context" (@jiahanjimliu, 257K). "Elon is to Neoclouds what CZ was to FTX" (@mhdempsey). @Yuchenj_UW, whose post started the thread on Saturday: "If neocloud stocks tank on Monday, I may have accidentally accelerated the guppy-level death..."

Nscale and Lambda hold $86B of Anthropic's compute (per its draft filing, which could go public today), and Nscale had 25k of its 461k contracted GPUs running in August. If lenders believe Musk, the frontier lab ends up renting more from Colossus, at his prices.

Labs news & launches

1. Grok Bot can now phone people and businesses for you

Your Bot makes the call, asks for what you want, takes notes and sends you a summary. A leaked 0.77 build also shows it sitting on hold, pressing keys and getting transferred while you watch a live transcript (@alexmichaelio). Musk spent Sunday selling it: "The best way to use Grok Bot is assume you are hiring a super competent employee" (@elonmusk, 2.4M).

Mostly delight. "My @bot can make phone calls now. First assignment: sit on hold with the cable company" (@TheAlecMick). @unclebobmartin is "transitioning away from using CLI agents" to Grok Bots (111K). Meta's @alexandr_wang: "muse gang, say hi to the boomers on grok bot" (179K), after Similarweb found Grok Bot ahead of Muse by almost 10% among 35 to 44 year olds.

2. A ChatGPT user in Japan says it installed and ran apps on their PC by itself

From about 2pm Japan time on Sunday, @8787sasuke says, ChatGPT installed an app and tried to run it. They removed it, but a second app it had installed kept running until 7pm. A human at OpenAI answered fast and is treating it as an emergency, they say (@8787sasuke, 1.1M).

Fear and some doubt in Japan. @hiro1010195 says the same thing happened to them in August, and posted a screenshot of the apps ChatGPT installed (38K). @Kazzz hasn't seen it run wild, but says it uses their logged-in browser sessions without asking, apologizes, and then keeps wanting to use their GCP and GitHub accounts.

3. [rumour] GPT-6.1 Terra shows up in GitHub Copilot, trialled as a cheaper reviewer than GPT-6.1 Sol

A GitHub employee has configured it in Copilot, after Microsoft's EF Core team made it the default judge in 18 eval configs on 16 October (@chetaslua). Many expect it at the end of Codex's 28 days (@haider1), and OpenAI's Tibo teased: "Day 21/ Wonder what happens the remaining seven days" (@thsottiaux, 420K).

Many hoped for something bigger. "Terra is the problematic middle child... Please, OpenAI, don't" (@kimmonismus, 77K). @TokenGremlin: "honestly, I'm struggling to see the point of launching it right now" (158K).

4. [rumour] Fable 5.5 is already with enterprise clients, including JPMorgan and Meta

@ChrisGPT's sources say Anthropic has rolled it out to enterprise, including JP Morgan, Meta and other "top clients".

Most expect a public release before the IPO. "Chris is reliable... This means imho that consumer release is imminent. I expect coming week" (@kimmonismus). @TokenGremlin: "even if OpenAI fights back with GPT-6.1 Terra, Anthropic already has Fable 5.5 ready to go."

5. Anthropic's token volume on OpenRouter is up 3.6x since Opus 5.5

That is OpenRouter's 7-day average for Anthropic models, and Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 "have also been well received".

@AndrewCurran_: "the number of people on my feed over the last two weeks saying they are switching over to Anth because of Opus 5.5 is like nothing I've seen before" (228K). @kimmonismus: "I havent heard anyone saying Opus 5.5 is a bad model."

6. Moonshot apologizes for K3.1 Pro's rate limits and gives every subscriber a week of quota back

A one-time reset restores 25% of the monthly quota (usage under 25% goes back to zero), and Moonshot is cutting needless subagent calls and output length so the quota lasts longer.

Critics noted what it left out: "Apologizing for poor rates, but failing to apologize for the fact that influencer briefings were sent out requesting undisclosed paid promotions, is a brazen move" (@kimmonismus, 45K). @Fanfulladev: "Just forwarding this to Anthropic for when my weekly limit dies on Thursday".

7. GMO Internet is hacked, and its CEO says AI misuse is breaking the internet

Attackers got into GMO's desktop cloud, exposing up to 26,739 servers and trading accounts at 70+ brokerages and FX firms. Its security arm found ARTEX, an autonomous AI pen-testing tool built for defense, being misused in attacks on about 20 Japanese companies, and GMO wants Japan to use its new Active Cyber Defense law (@choblin29). CEO Masatoshi Kumagai: "The underlying issue is the explosive evolution and misuse of AI technology" (@_NathanCalvin).

Alarm. @MarioNawfal put it next to banks catching rogue AI agents and G7 drills for AI attacks: "IS THE INTERNET GOING TO BE LOCKED DOWN?" (85K). @GeoTales_ wrote that it is either scaremongering or terrifying, since GMO has been Japan's internet pioneer since 1995.

8. Nanbeige4.3-33B: an open 33B model that beats Qwen3.8-27B on agentic coding benchmarks

Apache 2.0, with 512K context. On its own table it scores 65.5 vs 42.5 on DeepSWE and 80.9 vs 73.0 on Terminal-Bench 2.1 against Qwen3.8-27B (@QwenAIFans). It will teach smaller Nanbeige models, starting with a 3B.

Hopeful. @teortaxesTex: "Based on previous experiences with Nanbeige, I expect these results to be largely true (if fragile and at risk of doom looping)". A tester on r/LocalLLaMA: "The results are decent but the kv cache for this llm is a hog".

9. Opus 5.5 rebuilds a Gaussian-splat garden in Blender

▶ Watch the video

Given a Gaussian splat of a garden, Claude Opus 5.5 rebuilt the scene with procedural objects, Geometry Nodes and Shader Nodes, then mapped captured textures onto selected surfaces.

@jonstephens85: "All of this research into turning Gaussian splats into meshes and [@gokayfem] just has Claude figure it out flawlessly."

The channel has millions of views, and Pangram's AI-text detector scored its scripts 96% AI.

Mostly laughs: "♫It's like raaaaain on your wedding day" (@AndrewCurran_). One doubter: "pangram is not a legitimate source" (@mikekalilmfg).
