Tesla's 7th driverless city is Fort Worth

Today: Agility Robotics' shareholder vote on its SPAC merger.

Tesla Robotaxi opens in Fort Worth, its first new city in about three months

Rides start today at 6am Central, noon in the UK (@SawyerMerritt). It is Tesla's 7th driverless Robotaxi city, or 8th counting the Bay Area, which still has safety drivers (@TeslaNewswire). The 143-square-mile zone is about 20 miles west of its 81-square-mile Dallas one (@RtaxiTracker). Its unsupervised zones now cover about 1% of the US population, by Sawyer Merritt's count (@SawyerMerritt).

@OverlyTrev: "the largest city geofence Tesla Robotaxi has ever announced on day 1" (of its driverless launches: the Bay Area's 2025 launch, with safety drivers, was bigger). @Mijinions: "That's almost three New York Cities worth of land where you can hail a car with nobody in the driver's seat."

Labs news & launches

1. Musk says robots will need more RAM than everything else on Earth

Kalshi's post gives the claim with no source or number. It lands in a memory shortage: Bank of America now expects no downcycle in DRAM prices through 2028-30 (@pequityresearch).

@jun_song: "most RAM will not even go into data centers. It will go into Physical AI, which is robotics." @OpenClawCentral: "Elon is saying robotics requires more than all the DRAM currently produced."

2. Meta's FAIR and partners release RoboJEPA, a world model trained across 12 robot bodies

▶ Watch the video

Built with Mila, Polytechnique Montréal and Chandar Research Lab, it trained on 23 datasets and 2.87 million episodes. There is no policy and no language: a Franka gets one goal image and plans by predicting ahead. The 8B-parameter model grasps 67% of the time. Checkpoints, training code and deployment code are out.

@LeoKharon: "The authors openly admit that their own law is already near its data ceiling."

3. Foxconn says more than 10 humanoids already work in its Texas plants

FII chairman Brand Cheng told Reuters they work at the Houston site, where Foxconn builds AI servers for NVIDIA. FII showed two wheeled models in October, one that lifts and one that bends at the waist for assembly and loading, with AI built on NVIDIA's GR00T. It plans to expand beyond Texas.

@CyberRobooo: "A factory that tests robots on itself, at scale, learns faster than anyone selling into someone else's floor."

4. Anyverse Dynamics' K15 humanoid starts work in JD's 7FRESH coffee shops

▶ Watch the video

The two-armed wheeled robot now works at two Beijing stores alongside an automated production line, and together they run orders unmanned, the company says. It can work in spaces no wider than 800mm. The plan is 1,000+ 7FRESH locations, under a partnership targeting 1 billion yuan.

5. FFR says it shipped 351 robot devices in October

▶ Watch the video

FF EAI Robotics calls that a monthly record, taking its total to 1,168 units, with positive gross margin per unit, it says. The Nasdaq-listed company (formerly AIxCrypto) closed its purchase of Faraday Future's robotics business on 23 Oct and has started operations in New York.

6. Rhoda AI's robot frees a stuck paper, a move it was never trained on

▶ Watch the video

Filmed on Field Trips with Schrep, it pinches a bag with its second arm, turns it over and pulls the paper out while unpacking ball bearings for an automotive customer. Rhoda trains on internet video, then needs 10 to 20 hours of teleoperation per task, its CEO says. It plans paid deployments before year-end (Humanoids Daily).

Rhoda CEO Jagdeep Singh: "That was definitely not something that we trained on before."

7. Robonine hacks Feetech servo firmware to make SO-ARM robots far more accurate

▶ Watch the video

Its open repo changes the firmware in the servos these arms use. In its own before-and-after tests, SO-101 error fell from about 35 mm to 10 mm, and SO-102 error from about 25 mm to 0 to 2 mm.

8. Claude Code gets a memory of the house and runs a home robot

A builder gave the agent EvergreenSLAM, a 2D lidar map where each place is a folder with notes the agent writes itself. Driving an XLeRobot from an empty map, Claude Code saved six places in about 6 minutes. Asked for a photo of a balcony it had never visited, it found its own note, drove over and sent one.

Its author, on the shelf in shot: "the robot noticed them too, its notes for that shelf say "WD-40 cans""

Key research

HULK: one humanoid controller for heavy pulls and carries

Interns at Amazon got a real Unitree G1 pulling a cart loaded to 300 kg, against 200 kg for the strongest baseline, and carrying up to 12.25 kg while walking. It matters because hauling loads, not just walking, is the work that earns a humanoid its place in a warehouse.

HoloBoxing: a humanoid boxing policy trained in 7 minutes on one GPU

A compact planner asks for future body-point targets, and a frozen, pretrained whole-body controller handles the joints. It matters because with a motor controller already trained, boxing takes just minutes more to learn, though so far only in simulation.

OpenHLM: an open recipe where one policy drives every joint of a humanoid

Most humanoid VLAs treat the legs as a mobile base, and this CoRL 2026 Spotlight uses the whole body. It matters because full-body demos are slow to collect, and arm-robot pretraining plus cheap robot-free demos cover new objects without any more of them.
